We study the adoption of 3-D printing in low income countries and the potential of this technology to reduce poverty and inequality.

Impacts of Nanotechnology
Nanotechnology is the study and manipulation of matter at the nanoscale (1-100nm) to create novel products and materials. Over the past 2 decades billions of dollars have been invested to develop this new technology. In addition to studying the technical side of nanotechnology, scientists need to understand how this new technology will impact society.

Engineering EducationEngineers design and build systems to impact the world. Unfortunately, the engineering curriculum is packed with technical classes that do not allow students to understand how to design technologies and systems to best solve societies problems. We run programs, workshops and teach classes to train holistic engineers in the 21st century.

STEM Diversity Initiatives
Women, African Americans, Latinos and people with disabilities are underrepresented in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) disciplines in the USA. We develop programs increase the number of underrepresented and study policies to address these issues. We currently have two NSF funded STEM diversity initiatives, ASSETS and SUNY LSAMP, that help underrepresented minority students succeed in STEM major and careers.
